, i have been getting back into my hair care a lot more. researching about making it grow, taking vitamins, etc.
First off, let me say that i have never died my hair. It is a brow Lately ny-auburny shade and in the summer i get natural more brighter blond bits throughout it. Its straight with quite wavy strands at the back that i tend to blow dry straight.
I've always had pretty weak hair, that splits. Its not that i constantly apply heat and other bad things, i just have not that great hair. I also have an obsession to pick out my splitties which is sooo naughty! but instead now i've taken to cutting them out with nail scissors :) I've done a bit of researched an found that split ends don't actually stop your hair growing (because you're hair grows from the roots, duh!) but it does make your hair appear and feel dryer, and unhealthy.
Split ends can't be mended, unlike many products that claim to do so. The only way to stop them is prevention, good hair care and then when they are there you can only cut them out, which is what i have been doing recently. But of course, split ends when they split up the middle can shorten your hair again, putting all your hair that has grown to waste :(
But now, my hair is in much better condition. I find it hard to see split ends, its not dry, looks healthy and none of those white ends that appear :P
I've been using Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Shampoo And Conditioner ( about $15 AUD each) , which i think had greatly helped my hair. It smells good, doesn't make me itch, and the shampoo doesn't strip me of all my natural oils.
Then, I use a heat/thermal protectant (because i blow dry my hair most times after i wash it) by Muk. I got this from HairHouse WareHouse (about $25 AUD). I love it! It smells like sweet apples and i've had the bottle forever, but sadly after a devastating spill i am almost out and am eager to try something else. I just run this all through my hair, sides, middle, back, top, front, inside, wherever!
Then i comb through my hair with a wide tooth comb and put TRESemme Thermal Creations Straightening Balm in the parts of my hair which are naturally wavy. (below my neck, about my tips). I have been using this for about a fortnight to a month or so and i think it makes a difference in the texture and straightness of my hair. This product works when heat is applied, it says it makes your hair straighten easily, but it does not protect from the heat. From memory this was probably around $10-15 AUD.
Finally, my last product is Marc Daniels Australia Flat Iron. First off, SMELLS SO AMAZING! Sweet but not overly disgusting ( to me at least). I love it! It is a light cream that is a heat protectant, and i think it activates with heat like the TRESemme balm, but not as much. It makes my hair feel smooth and soft :) I put it on my hair form my collar bone to the ends. Again, i think from memory it's about $7-10 AUD.
And to finish off, i blow dry my hair to dry it, straighten it a little and add volume. :)
I've been taking Swisse Hair Skin Nails Vitamins in the hope it will help :) have only been taking them for a week but i will update after a month.
Also! as a last last note, today i just bought a VS Glide Hair Straightener. So i will also update on how i like that :)
(Most things i bought are available from pharamcy's/drugstores)
